as you can see we had SO much fun and the cups were a huge success! plus now the girls have new cups for their new house senior year!

oh katie holmes. my you are a far cry from joey on the show my mommy would not let me watch because you slept in dawson’s bed. now you are shacked up with the BIGGEST creeper on the face of the earth and raising what can only be described as the MOST SPOILED CHILD on the face of the earth.

what i am most excited about is:
how good does this look? it opens on september 10 and i am wishing i had a great group of girls here in VA to go see it with. its based on a book, that i have not read, and will be picking that up when i finish the girl who kicked the hornet’s nest.

and it has to do with food. any one surprised?
i have been eying these at the grocery for months and finally bought them. i am now kicking myself that i did not do it sooner. they look like this and run about 7 dollars.
from the website i found that you can purchase them from amazon. this has made my life!
the oats take a bit longer to cook than regular quick oats but it is TOTALLY worth it!
from amazon i am going to try and purchase their version of the 5 min quick oat and see if they are as good at the 30 min stove top version.
i have not been keeping up with my marathon traning page but i HAVE been training. and have hit a little mile stone! new shoes!
my last pair was not a favorite and i have happy to have worn them out! my new pair are the ASICS GEL-Kayano 16
this is my second pair of womens running shoes ever and if they do not work i am going back to men’s shoes. for my last pair the girl at the running store talked me in to a 10 2E they ended up being to wide (imagine that) and hit my feet in funny spots. for the asics i went with a 11D and am much happier with the fit.
hopefully i say that after thug and i’s long run (which we are on right now as this auto posts!)

everyone has rituals. i hold mine near and dear to my heart. things such as Saturday morning tv in bed, hot coffee moments after i awake, and quietly reading are a few things i believe no weekend morning can go without.
enter intrusions…
i feel like lately no matter what i do or where i am i cannot seem to doing my “me” things. currently i am dog/house sitting and they do not have an electric coffee pot. they have a french press that after 4 days of trying i have given up on. so my saturday morning is spent cuddling my cold tervis tumbler of iced coffee.

there is also no dvr. if you follow me on twitter (you should) you know that i have been complaining about this for a while. but seriously. how am i suposed to watch my shows??? its not like i have time every night to watch all the tv i like! to remedy this i went home last night and attempted to catch up on some of my “smutt”. thankfully no one was home for the first 45 minutes so i was able to start my smutt fest without explanation. after securing a bowl of chips and salsa i sat down to discover that K$ and his tv addiction had over ridden a number of my recordings. i was left with a week worth of chelsea latley, mad men, and real housewives of DC. (thank god mr. match and i made a point of watching jersey shore on thursday). i guess i will have to catch the rachel zoe project on repeat.
i was able to watch housewives of dc. for a recap much better then i could ever write see gawker ( Richard Lawson ) and his recaps are the only reason i am still watching this BORING train wreck.
mad men was good as always and lisa watched the last 10 min with me. we then turned on chelsea lately and that is where the real fun began. i was able to catch bits and pieces of this over the week so i was more interested in making sure i saw all the round tables. lisa does not get chelsea. i have given her both dear vodka it’s me chelsea and chelsea chelsea bang bang she read about a page in both.
lisa did enjoy the show but had one remark that she said every time we started a new show and she did her monologue. “oh why does she look so bad? what is going on with her hair? ugh she is such a pretty girl in the opening credits!” i attempted to tell her that its been a rough summer for chels who has been vacationing and having vodka fueled parties at her rental and only did she and thug understand with i compared her to AJH but 15 years older!
lisa then told me to tell chelsea on twitter that she thinks she should do something about her hair. i told her to get her own twitter but did it any way! there was no responce from chelsea.
well now that it is 8 am i can turn on the today show and continue my half-a$$ed attempt at a normal saturday morning.

do you ever just need to vent? who do you turn to?
thankfully i have a great support system of people who i am able to turn to when i just need to get things out. recently i think i have been using them a bit too much.
the chain of vent usually goes as follows:
-thug
-lisa
-amc
-mr. match
-ajh
it gets a tad re-arranged depending on the topic of the vent and the catalyst.
i just want to talk all of you for always listening and have some of the best advice a girl could ever get!
ajh had a wonderful 21st birthday.

i wanna be a pastry chef. without going to pastry school.
perhaps one day i will just own all the baking items from williams-sonoma. right now i am wishing i had a massive kitchen and these cook books:

i got the itch to get back to baking after reading Zoe bakes and seeing these amazing sale boat cookies

today is the day of lisa. it is her BIRTHDAY!!!
while almost every day i celebrate the woman who gave birth to me today i would like to spend a moment to share with all of you the mass amounts of joy she has brought to my life.
she taught me how to cook/bake. without her i would be more like my little sister AJH and lost in the kitchen. she has passed on her skill for my great-grandmother’s pound cake and cookies. her skill for making dinners and her knack for an amazing appetizer.
she taught me to be the bigger person. to always shave a smile and to not let others get to me.
she taught me to always be a good sport. and how that life is better when people thing your a milf/cougar.
she taught me how to drink. that having a signature drink its clutch for an social setting and that indulgence is better left for specific social occasions, christmas eve dinner, family weddings, and college graduations!
my mother has taught that finding a partner that is not only your best friend but your complete equal is the recipe for a lasting relationship.
above all lisa has taught me that being a good time always trumps your own feelings and that when you pretend to have a good time you actually end up having a good time. she has proven that car trips are awful but with a little sparkle they can be come a favorite memory.
last but not least lisa has pent the last 25 years being the best mommy i could ever ask for. so today on your birthday i honor you! so here’s to you lisa, my friend, my mother, and my idol.

today was my 365 day in norfolk. one year ago today thug and i finished our horrible drive in my black jeep from chicago to norfolk.

and i started my new life…
my, how things have changed. with all the change and with all the heart ache of the past year i have to say that i am in a much better place and a much happier person!
to celebrate my 1 year anniversary i went to mass, dunkin donuts, harris teeter, the beach with mr. match, and had a gyro!
the only thing that is not the same is that AJH is not home.
